Sonepar subsidiary Echo Electric has reached an agreement to acquire Kansas City electrical distributor Shaw Supply, company officials announced Friday.

Shaw, a family-owned company established nearly 70 years ago, employs a staff of more than 30. Sonepar officials said that the deal would bolster Echo’s presence in greater Kansas City and western Missouri.

The deal is expected to close by the end of the month; financial terms were not disclosed.

“Shaw Supply has built a remarkable business grounded in hard work and exceptional service,” Echo President Chris Scarbrough said in the announcement. “They have invested in their associates’ technical expertise in order to offer personalized service and the best possible solutions to customers."

“Joining Echo Electric allows us to provide our associates with expanded opportunities and enhance the capabilities we offer to customers,” Shaw co-owners Brian and Patrick Shaw added in a joint statement. “We could not be more optimistic about the future.”

Sonepar earlier this year announced that its Springfield Electric, Richards Electric, Pepco and Holt subsidiaries would be rolled into Echo’s operations, forming a $1 billion subsidiary with about 1,300 employees across nine Midwestern states — including Missouri.
