EAST GRANBY, CT — IBC has announced the addition of Superior Abrasives, LLC, of Dayton, Ohio, as its newest Preferred Supplier of coated and non-woven abrasive products used in metal fabrication, industrial manufacturing, and specialty equipment production.

Superior Abrasives’ standard product offering tackles the day-to-day challenges of grinding, finishing, and polishing. For demanding applications, such as those found in the aerospace, medical, and power generation fields, the company’s team of experienced engineers can design an abrasive solution tailored to fit any job.

Founded in 1961 as a specialty abrasive convertor, Superior Abrasives started out focusing mainly on specialty abrasive products such as cartridge rolls, square pads, cross pads, and flap wheels. Driven by its employees’ ingenuity, the company quickly built a reputation as a provider of engineered metal working solutions. Under the current ownership of the Rueggeberg Group in Germany, Superior Abrasives has remained an independent entity that’s producing some of the world’s best metalworking solutions.

Dedicated to lean manufacturing principles, Superior Abrasives’ relentless pursuit of continual process improvements has enabled the manufacturer to reduce production costs and eliminate waste while maintaining high quality standards at each stage of the production cycle. “This ensures overall product quality and measured repeatable performance for the customer,” said Jeff Case, Director of Sales and Marketing.

According to Case, Superior Abrasives is currently in growth mode and building a new headquarters and manufacturing facility, just north of its current location in Vandalia, Ohio. The company already sells extensively through independent distributors and sees its new alignment with IBC as a way to build brand awareness and expand its distribution network. “We are planning for and expecting exceptional growth in the coming years,” said Case. “We want our brand to become more recognized in the industry and we see IBC as a great facilitator and partner for that and other initiatives.”

Calling Superior Abrasives a great “go-to line,” Case said the company is an industry leader in the manufacture of quick-change discs, cartridge rolls, PSA discs, and surface conditioning belts. “We can develop specialty products for unique applications and react quickly to specific needs,” said Case. “With the growth model that we have in place right now, we feel that joining IBC is a big step for our next era of growth.”

Nancy Schwind, IBC’s Director of Business Development, said Superior Abrasives is a great addition to the group’s non-woven and coated abrasives category. “Our members will find that they are an ideal equivalent in quality and performance to many of the non-woven coated products available today.”

IBC is one of North America’s leading alliances of industrial, bearing & power transmission, electrical, and subassembly distributors with over 550 branch locations and total sales in excess of $6.64 billion. The organization provides multi-location customers a streamlined, cost-effective, dynamic purchasing source for national and regional contracts. IBC provides its Independent Distributors and Preferred Suppliers with the tools, resources, and market access needed to thrive in today’s competitive marketplace, including a unique collaboration forum.
